an exact replica of what I originally envisioned for my engagement ring. Inspired by vintage gold bands I had seen through the years that no longer existed online. I always envisioned myself with a thick masculine band, the splash being in the gold not a ton of care towards the diamond.
When it came time to shape the band, I knew I wanted to incorporate 2 gold baby bracelets from my mom’s childhood. We melted them down to create the ring, letting the amount of gold naturally determine the weight and proportions of the band. The result feels slightly architectural on the hand, soft and substantial at the same time.
Before any CAD renderings or technical drawings, the first version of this ring started as a sketch on a napkin at a jewelry counter in the KOP mall with my dad. He’s always had an incredible eye for design and style unlike most 65 yr old corporate men I know he was my first call to make my ring come to life
